Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 17, 2026

1. Introduction

BHware ("we", "us", or "our") develops and operates the HIPPie mobile application, which verifies the authenticity of photos and videos through privacy-preserving cryptographic verification. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our service or this website.

2. Information We Collect

  • Photo and Video Data: Photos and videos are processed locally on your device to generate verification proofs. Original photos and videos are never uploaded to or stored on our servers.
  • Verification Records: Verification proofs derived from your photos and videos are stored for later verification. These records do not contain the original media content.
  • Account Information: If you create an account, we collect your email address for authentication and service communications.
  • Device and Usage Data: We may collect anonymized technical data such as device type, operating system, app version, and anonymous usage statistics to improve the service.
  • Cookies and Local Storage: This website uses browser localStorage to remember your language and theme preferences. No tracking cookies are used.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide photo and video authenticity verification services
  • To generate, store, and serve verification proofs
  • To authenticate your account and communicate about service updates
  • To improve, debug, and optimize the application
  • To comply with legal obligations

4. Data Storage and Security

All verification operations are performed locally on your device. Verification proofs are stored encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. We apply industry-standard security practices including access control, auditing, and monitoring.

5. Data Retention

Original photos and videos are never retained by us. Verification proofs are retained for as long as the service is operated, because their permanence is required for verification. Account information is retained while your account is active; upon account deletion, we erase personal data unless retention is required by law.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, to restrict or object to processing, and to request a copy of your data. To exercise these rights, contact us at admin@bhware.com. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Children's Privacy

Our service is not directed to children under 13 (or under 14 where applicable under local law, such as in the Republic of Korea). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

8. Third-Party Services

We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We may engage trusted service providers (such as hosting, email delivery, and analytics) strictly to operate the service. These providers are bound by confidentiality and data-protection obligations.

9. Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach that poses a risk to your rights or freedoms, we will notify affected users without undue delay in accordance with applicable laws.

10. International Transfers

BHware is based in Sejong, South Korea. If data is transferred outside your jurisdiction, we apply appropriate safeguards required by applicable law.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the service or by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
